Ministry coaching and consulting

Ministry coaching

While classes, webinars and other resources can provide much-needed education and formation, Catholic ministers often need more. The Center for Learning’s personalized coaching services provide one-on-one support for liturgical and pastoral ministers in parishes, Catholic schools and other ministries.

Whether a minister needs help building or managing a ministry team, leading ministries in a merged parish, effectively preparing the liturgy, running rehearsals, or just finding balance, ministry coaching can help to improve organization, communication, stress management and more.

Ministry coaching is not mental health care, therapy, counseling, or spiritual direction. That said, it can be a therapeutic experience and is certainly not devoid of a spiritual component. Our coaches are experienced ministers who can help others work through problems in ministry and provide educated advice, as well as a listening ear.

Individuals benefit greatly by signing up for coaching themselves, but this is also a service that bishops, pastors and others can provide for their staff. As we are increasingly required to do more with less, coaching services can help bridge the gap for diocesan and parish leaders who need to provide their professional ministers and volunteers with support and advice but only have so many hours in a day.

Coaching can improve performance and decrease burnout, improving the effectiveness of Catholic ministries. Sign up for a FREE consultation to develop a unique coaching plan for yourself or your staff and to discuss pricing.

Ministry consulting

Along with coaching for individuals, the Center for Learning offers ministry consulting at the organizational level. If your ministry could benefit from a third-party audit and evaluation, or just experienced experts to bounce ideas off, then our consulting services are for you. We provide liturgical, administrative and leadership solutions for dioceses, parishes, Catholic schools and other ministries.

Consulting can improve the effectiveness of your Catholic ministry programs and organization. Sign up for a FREE consultation to develop a unique ministry consulting plan for your organization and to discuss pricing.

Custom formation: Liturgies in Catholic Schools

Prayer - especially the Mass - is at the heart of a Catholic school. But most school communities could use help and guidance to prepare and lead vibrant liturgies. This program includes the following components:

  1. individual coaching to address the specific needs and realities of your school community,

  2. participation in several Professional Learning Communities with other Catholic school staff,

  3. access to planning resources including song recommendations for every part of the year,

  4. participation in The Liturgy Forecast program for Catholic schools,

  5. access to a library of on-demand video classes for your staff and student leaders,

  6. and more!

All components are delivered virtually, but in-person formation and training can be added. The program is fully customizable, so you can add components depending on your need and budget. Does ministry coaching work?

Hear what people have to say:

  • “You met me where I was at and walked with me. Your questions helped me find my way forward. You focused on what was important for me and my ministry.”

    – Jonathan, Director of Religious Education, Iowa

  • “I felt affirmed and supported in my ministry in ways I haven’t felt for a long time. I am so much more confident. Others have noticed it, too. My ministry is making a bigger impact.”

    – Mary Beth, Director of Music and Liturgy, California

  • “Even when we talked about a challenge I was facing, I left every coaching conversation feeling motivated and energized. You didn’t give me answers; you helped shape the way I think through those challenges. I feel so much more equipped to handle whatever comes next.”

    – David, Director of Youth Ministry, Minnesota

  • “I get frustrated after attending a workshop because I don’t know what to do with all of the great information I just received. Coaching has helped me to actually do the work and implement the ideas.”

    – Robert, Deacon, Louisiana

  • “I feel like I remember my ‘why’ again. I was burned out and stressed. The challenges are still there, but now I know how to navigate through them in a healthy way.”

    – Maria, Director of Music and Liturgy, Connecticut

  • “As a pastor, I don’t have as much time to spend with my staff as I need. I can see the difference coaching has made for my staff. They are more effective. Our whole staff benefits from their ideas and energy. I wish every member of my staff received coaching. It is worth every penny.”

    – Fr. Mark, Priest, California

  • “I’ve been wanting to meet these goals for a long time. Every time I started, I’d get stuck or hit a roadblock. Coaching helped me finally make progress, and now I’m meeting my goals and making a difference in the ways I had always wanted to.”

    – Hannah, Director of Religious Education, Illinois
